5 Guys Named Moe

I’ve been a fan of rhythm & blues and jazz musician Louis Jordan since his records were played for me by my record store co-workers when I was in my early twenties. Songs like Caledonia, Beware, Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Cryin’ and Choo Choo Ch’ Boogie were some of the songs on a double LP collection that was on heavy rotation in our store.  Jordon was known as the King of the Jukebox in the 1940s, and had a string of hits that crossed over to to both black and white audiences. Here is one of my very favorite Louis Jordon songs: Five Guys Named Moe.

1. Moe Howard. Stooge

2. Moe Szyslak. Bartender

3. Mo Ostin. Artist-friendly Record Exec and Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer

4. Moe Greene. Dead Mobster

Mo(ses). Religious leader, lawgiver and prophet

What’s all this?

MANHATTMAN is hosted by Norman Maslov, whose Agence Internationale, represents a small group of wonderful photographers. This blog showcases images from these artists along with scribes about music, films, food, gin martinis and hats. Pontifications from a native San Franciscan and his extended family and friends. So it goes.
