Harold Lee Miller’s new photographs for the Indy 500.

This May 29 will be the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. To mark this milestone, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is producing a series of posters and ads featuring prominent drivers and the headline, “If you can dream it, you can chase it down”.

The agency MSK asked Harold Lee Miller to shoot the portrait series for the posters and produce interview videos as well for each one. Nine drivers were photographed for the campaign.

“What struck me about this project was how personable, and appealing-looking, all the drivers were in the interviews and still shoot sessions. It’s not enough to be just a great driver anymore. What’s obvious is that to succeed in the auto racing business, a driver has to attract sponsors, appeal to team owners, and generate a social media following. In other words, it’s a performance on the track and off.” – HLM

The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, is considered part of the Triple Crown of Motorsport, which comprises three of the most prestigious motorsports events in the world. The inaugural running of the Indy 500 was won by Ray Harroun in 1911.
